Borja Yus, trainer: "If you go to the gym and change the order of the exercises..."

In Spain, there's a growing interest in regular workouts at the gym, with cardio, strength, or whatever the experts recommend, depending on the goal you're trying to achieve. However, you may be following a routine, putting in a lot of effort with your daily exercises, and yet you're not seeing the physical results you expected. In these cases, it could be that the order of the factors is affecting the outcome. What do we mean?
Popular trainer Borja Yus, with thousands of followers on social media, has published an explanatory video in which he offers the keys to ensuring that your gym sessions are effective, and not a waste of tremendous effort and time: "If you go to the gym and change the order of the exercises you normally do, that's probably causing your body to not perform as expected," he explains.
Strength training needs to follow a rigorous order of executionThe sports expert, who believes that 95 percent of people who train at the gym seem like they're not really doing so because they don't follow the necessary execution rules, comments on this occasion in a TikTok video that "when you follow a plan in your workouts , that is, you know exactly how many sets, repetitions and weight you should lift, a variation in the order of the exercises could cause you to become excessively fatigued."
And he's not just talking about overexertion without any beneficial effects on muscle mass (he's an expert in strength training), but also about how not following the guidelines established by the trainer to achieve the goals set from the beginning will cause the body to not perform as well as it should , leading to disappointment. In most cases, we don't know why, but we do notice that our muscle mass and fat loss aren't going the way we initially hoped.
The key, according to Yus, may lie in the order in which we perform our routines. "If we modify the pre-established order occasionally, nothing will happen ; these are exceptions. The problem arises when we do it habitually." In these cases, the body "doesn't understand" what we're asking of it, and a setback or, at least, a stagnation in the expected progress often occurs.
What can we do to ensure our routines achieve the expected benefits?Borja Yus, once he establishes the obligation to follow the sequence during strength training at the gym, also understands that, depending on the circumstances, there are times when we're going to use the machine assigned to us at that moment and it's occupied. So what do we do to avoid stopping and cooling off , which could be even worse?
"If we find a machine we can't use, the ideal thing would be to make sure we can maintain at least the first three exercises of the day, which are usually the most important for progress in all established routines, in that order no matter what. If the session progresses and we find that a machine is occupied, we can suggest that we take turns with the other person. In exceptional and specific cases, we could change the order of execution in the final routines, but don't make it a habit if we want to get results ."
